ONGOING PROJECT - PUBLIC -

The project is currently on its research and concept design stage.

This project takes on the re-qualification of the valley of the watermills of Rivodutri, in Lazio.

It aims at the restoration/reuse of the seven once existing watermills, and other structures found in the valley, such as a medieval church that dates back to the 1400s, old homes and gardens and agricultural structures.

The project also includes landscape design of all the surrounding areas, as well as design at an urban scale that connects the various locations of these structures.

the first one-wheel grain mill is still in a relatively good condition, with its tank intact.

it is situated in the beggining of the valley, making it the first structure to encounter.

the second grain watermill is found in a better condition, with all of its structure almost intact. The restoration of this mill is currently a separate ongoing project.

The original church of the Madonna della Valle dates back to at least the 15th century, as reported in the inscription above it. By that date, it had already been rebuilt four times, demonstrating its importance for the population. At the beginning of the 18th century it was abandoned and moved to a safer place. Today, the structure remains in good condition, with the main space intact, but the second floor that apparently existed has been destroyed.

the third mill is an oil mill, found outside of the valley, higher up the river stream. It is found in a relatively good condition, with its walls still recognisable. It has a medium size tank and its volume superseeds all others fouund before.
